Tabloid
by Scott Teel

Logline :
Chaos breaks out when a New York City tabloid's outrageous articles about space aliens, The Frog Boy, Bigfoot, Karate Lobsters, and more start to  come true - and only the paper's staff can get things back to normal.

Synopsis:
Eric Clemens, owner of the silly tabloid weekly The New York Eye, is a nice guy who feels like a failure and, one night, after a bet with his arch-rival that he could be the #1 paper in the city, wishes he could run a newspaper that really informs people with actual news. If he wins the bet, his rival will have to sell The New York Post and use the money to fund the city's Boys and Girls club, which is about to go under.

His wish is granted, and suddenly, every front page story the Eye prints comes true: the Titanic is in NY harbor, Bigfoot's in Central Park, the Frog Boy is fighting crime, the fattest man in the world can fly, space aliens invade the city in search of B52s albums, and more. Soon, the city descends into madness as Eric's creations flood the town.  Eric starts letting the success go to his head, and starts using the paper for his own gain, working his loyal employees to exhaustion and trying to win back his ex-wife.

After Eric wins the bet, his right-hand woman, Ruth, points his greed and arrogance out to him before quitting her job at the Eye.  When Eric does look at himself and see what he's doing to people he cares about, he and the staff of the Eye have to get rid of the paper's creations before they cause more damage.  Their plan is a fast-paced, unique series of actions that all come together surprisingly and hilariously well at the script's end, when New York is returned to normal.  Sort of.
